Production Log

This post is to track my work during my Media Studies course.

DATE
27th Jan 2010
This was the first lesson that we started to make our group blogs. Today we also had to make an individual Thriller blog that consist of past student work, thriller openings, production log, thriller essay and a prelim task.

DATE
29th Jan 2010

This is where I began compiling all of the work that would benefit my grade into my personal blog, and also began assigning individual tasks for the group blog. These are things such as a studio logo, which I made.

DATE
1st Feb 2010
We were introduced to other AS Media thriller openings on YouTube. We then analysed them and tried to evaluate them. This allowed us to see what was good and what we should take into our own blog. We wrote these analysis's down and later transfered them into reviews on our blog.

DATE
2nd Feb 2010
I studied trailers and introductions of successful, big-budget thrillers such as 'Leon' and 'American Psycho'. I looked into what what made these good thrillers, such as 'American Psycho's unique and unconventional use of food sauce, which -- for a long time -- appeared as blood. When it is finally revealed to be food sauce, this is unnerving and heightens the sense of realism.

3rd Feb 2010
Here I was introduced to the website 'dafont.com'. This allowed me to look into a variety of of fonts for free, and investigate which I believed would be effective in our film. Our group agreed on a multitude of very young, childish looking font styles. Evidence of some of these are on our blogs.

As part of our pre-production we also, this lesson, began to start drawing as many images as possible on rough and varied pieces of paper. Because the protagonist, Pip, draws everyday and on as little as he has, we must have a considerable proportion of props to connote this lifestyle.

DATE
8th Feb 2010

In this lesson, we looked into the use of treatments in the film industry, more specifically a sci-fi thriller. After looking into the conventions of a thriller, we then tried to replicate this for our own film. The treatment that we wrote this lesson is on the group blog.

DATE
9th Feb 2010
This lesson was a joint effort in which we planned out the story board. We each contributed shot ideas, initially on post-it notes, and then after drawing all of these arranged them on paper in a way in which we thought was effective.

DATE
10th Feb 2010
Because we ran out of time the previous lesson, this lesson mainly consisted of moving the rough sketch designs on the post-its onto our official storyboards. We have since filmed this, with denotations, and uploaded it onto our group blog.

DATE
12th Feb 2010
This was the main final recce. We finalised where we intended to film, which is a storage room in the school, a neighbour's main bedroom and Tooting Bec park. We have got a video of this uploaded on the blog, showing the main scene.

DATE
23rd Feb 2010
Here we formed the beginning of our production schedules and planned what we intended to do. We organised, along with Miss Berry who is starring in the film, to all shoot on the 24th of February during the lesson and slighttly over.

DATE
24th Feb 2010
Production Schedule - Today we filmed some of the later scenes in the film, to the middle of film. We mainly films the scenes involving Miss Berry as we could not get the actor of Pip for that specific time. In the scenes where we needed him we decided to film them with Tommy instead. This is filler, but I may end up taking the role up permanently. This is the scene where the two characters are first introduced. In this scene Juliet is wearing casual clothing that are quite lively colored, however Pip goes in contrast as he will be wearing dull colors.

DATE 26TH fEB 2010
For this lesson I was on a resendential trip and was not able to attend.
